PRODUCT VARIATIONS
Masterstone Pavers are a hand made product using natural raw materials, and thus will have colour variation, surface imperfections and some chipping. Chipped or damaged pavers up to 4% are considered to be within acceptable industry standards and will not be replaced. These pavers should be put aside for use as cuts. Thickness variation of up to +/- 3mm may occur as allowed by the Australian Standards. Please check the order for size, colour and quantity. Discrepancies will not be recognised unless notified within 48 hours. No claims will be accepted for irregularities after laying of the product.

PRODUCT HANDLING
Careful handling is required at all times including before, during and after installation as staining may occur. Cover pavers if necessary. Do not stack pavers criss-cross on site as this may leave marks on the pavers if left for a period of time.

CUTTING
Masterstone Pavers can be cut with a wet diamond blade saw. All dust and milky cutting residue must be washed off IMMEDIATELY before it dries, as it will stain.

LAYING
Always engage a good licensed paver layer experienced in laying larger format pavers and bullnoses. All pavers are to be individually laid and levelled at the time of laying, as their larger size does not allow levelling with a compactor plate. Masterstone Pavers are recommended to be laid with a 3-5 mm gap to prevent chipping. If laying on a compacted road base, allow a minimum of 75 mm, then a 20 mm layer of bedding sand on top to allow bedding and levelling. If laying on concrete it is recommended to use Kemgrip Standard mixed with a bonding agent such as Kemcrete. Always blend pavers when using multiple pallets – do not lay pallet by pallet.

JOINTS
Foe butt joints we recommend a 3-5 mm joint, using a clean dry white jointing sand brushed between pavers. For grout joints Masterstone Pavers provides a matching grout colour to add to washed sand for your paver or bullnose. All excess material must be cleaned off immediately with clean water and sponge. We recommend 6-10 mm grout joints.
Expansion Joints should be used when paving to allow for natural movement. These should be incorporated every 4 metres, in accordance with AS2359. There should be an expansion joint between the pavers and any other product or surface.

CLEANING & SEALING
For general cleaning after pavers are laid and before sealing it is recommended to use warm water with a detergent cleaning solution and a stiff brush. For more stubborn marks use products such as (Solutions D-Scale), a Phosphoric acid cleaner. Always use as per manufacturers instructions. (Do not use Hydrocloric acid). Wet down the area thoroughly before brushing 1-2 sqm of area at a time, washing down immediately after with plenty of water. All excess sediment left from cleaning the surface must be removed when washing down. Do not leave acid on the surface. Do not use over strength acid as this can cause pitting of the surface.
All Masterstone Pavers products are ‘factory pre-sealed’ for ease of installation only. Masterstone Pavers recommends that the product be further sealed to a level to suit the application of the customers needs. All product layed on pools and surrounds must be sealed to aid with prevention of salt attack. We recommend that experienced cleaning and sealing contractors attend to the paved areas as soon as possible. Sealing cannot take place until the pavers are completely dry, including the mortar joints. A range of cleaning products to help maintain paver appearance once sealed are available.

EFFLORESCENCE
Masterstone Pavers in its manufacturing process uses an efflorescence reducing additive, but still is a potential problem to the clay and masonry industry. As it is beyond our control no guarantees are given. If efflorescence appears it is visable as a uniform powder on the surface and is sometimes mistaken as fading. Major Industry studies show that weathering will eliminate the problem or in most cases the application of a sealer will prevent the potential problem.
